DHSZ Alumni Internship Programme

We are pleased to offer our graduates an internship programme to gain valuable work experience within our school.

Positions are available in both academic and non-academic departments. We will aim to accommodate as many interns as possible, but all positions are subject to the school's needs and demands.

  • DHSZ Graduate student
  • Completing an undergraduate or postgraduate programme of study (Studying in the second year of university and beyond)
  • These roles are unpaid. Lunch will be provided for interns working during the day. For interns who join our boarding programme, term-time accommodation and meals during school days will be provided. Further details will be provided on appointment.
  • All interns will benefit from mentoring from a DHSZ staff member and participation in staff events, activities and professional learning.

Due to the training required to non-academic positions, internships in these areas must be at least 4 weeks long.

1. How long does the internship last?
An internship may last anywhere from two weeks to longer, including boarding. The final dates will be confirmed by mutual agreement between the intern and the school. We will strive to be as flexible as possible to accommodate the needs of our alumni and the school.

2. Can I apply for the internship after completing my university degree?
If you have completed your undergraduate degree and are waiting to apply for a master’s programme, you are eligible to apply for the internship programme.

3. What are the responsibilities and tasks involved in the internship?
As an intern, you will receive training, mentoring, and support in your area of interest. The expectations of professionalism will be similar to those of any DHSZ staff member. We aim to ensure that our interns have a rewarding and meaningful experience at our school, providing an appropriate balance between learning, gaining experience, and taking on responsibility.

4. Are internships available during both winter and summer breaks?
Non-academic roles may be available during the winter and summer breaks, while academic roles are only available during term time.

5. Will I receive any official documentation upon completing the internship, such as a certificate or a recommendation letter?
Yes, all interns who complete their internship programme will receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation (if required).

6. What are the selection criteria for each internship position?
As internships are available in various roles across our school, the requirements may vary depending on the needs of the department and the school at any given time. We aim to offer an internship to all alumni who apply, but this may not always be possible. Please apply with a current, up-to-date CV, indicating the department in which you wish to gain experience.

7. What is the typical work schedule for an intern?
This will be mutually agreed between the intern and the school. Please state your availability at the time of application.
