Coco advises lower school students that, "It is important to always be curious about what you are interested in and to use the time you have in your day to read and accumulate more. In addition, I think a big advantage of my application is the extra-curricular academic competitions. Apart from my abilities, I would highly recommend the younger students participate in more competitions related to their majors. You can not only exercise independent learning, critical thinking, organisational skills, etc., but you will also open up a gap between you and your competitors which could be a unique highlight in your application. Finally, I'd like to say that if you have any doubts, make sure you contact your counsellor to solve them!

"In terms of the variety of opportunities offered by our school, a wide array of extra-curriculum activities is provided for students, ranging from programs about developing leadership skills to sports teams, which arouses initiatives for learners to elevate practical aptitude and widen the knowledge scope beyond the textbook. On top of that, with respect to the curriculum perspective, I really appreciate all my teachers this year who are all quite supportive and professional, incorporating a variety of pedagogies into teaching and granting the learners autonomy to explore their interests which creates better learning dynamics for schoolers and build a rapport with students."

Her advice is that, "Prioritize your time and don’t procrastinate to balance your learning and life. Get involved in organizations where your initiatives drive, developing interpersonal skills and adversity quotient. Finally, learning how to deal with stress especially under Covid in recent years and understand that education is more than a degree."

"It was in Y10 that I had my first exposure to the subject of Economics, but I immediately discovered my love for the field and set it as my major. It is fundamental to attend every class seriously, take good notes and ask questions if I don't understand. I will use my spare time to follow some news and current affairs and read some relevant books to improve my soft skills and exercise my independent learning and critical thinking skills. I also joined the Econ book club at school to read and discuss with my peers and teachers. Secondly, I took part in some maths, business, economics, and essay competitions, which helped me to learn more about professional knowledge."

"Dulwich is a warm family which not only teaches me knowledge, but also gives me help during my application. The diverse curriculum such as CCA and Scholars Programme allow me to find my interests and explore in the school. So I can determine and plan for my major in the university earlier. These courses also open up my horizon so I can introduce these experiences in my Personal Statement. Moreover, my school counsellors play an essential role in my application. They are professional, precise and patient with me. With their help, I gradually become confident in my application, so that I can reach my goal step by step. She advises lower school students that, "First of all, you should take every test in school seriously, and every score is crucial to your transcript when you apply. Second, I suggest you plan ahead, talk to your parents and school counselors, identify your goals as early as possible and work towards them. Last but not least, keep a good attitude and don't worry too much. Believe that your efforts every day will bring you satisfactory results."

"I chose this school and this major largely because of my counsellor Rain Xie, who introduced many of the advantages POLYU has, such as its great location, high QS ranking, and the fact that this major (hospitality management) is in the TOP tier worldwide, etc. All these captured my interest and my love for POLYU. Later on, I also found out that I was a perfect fit for the major. For example, I am a humorous person who is willing to entertain the people around me with my humor. And hospitality management is all about the emergence of service-oriented personalities like mine, and I think that was a crucial point for me to get this offer. This major at POLYU is also very strong. Besides, POLYU has a hotel of its own which means I can get a very high-quality learning environment and opportunities there.
