Alumni Shine on Stage at Dulwich International High School Suzhou Q&A Panel!

Friday 16th of April was a memorable day at Dulwich International High School Suzhou, as 6 Alumni from our school, (including a former head Girl) attended a Q&A session with parents and students to help them prepare for life at international Universities. We are tremendously proud of our alumni, some of which have gone on to work at Apple and some of the biggest accounting firms in the world. The following alumni from our school participated in the activities:

• Edward Xia and Andrew Yu, who both graduated in 2016
• Leo Jin, who graduated in 2017
• Rowena Yin, who graduated in 2019
• Carol Shen, and Verita Gu, who both graduated in 2020

After a special lunch with our principal, Sarah Tielman, and several members of our senior leadership team, each of the 6 former students took time out of their busy schedules to record a video message for our year 13 students. Our current year 13s will soon be leaving, and it is a tradition at our school for current and ex-staff, as well as alumni, to record encouraging well-wishing messages for them, which are played during the leaver’s assembly.

Alumni are hugely important at Dulwich International High School Suzhou, and the activities they participated in during the day clearly demonstrates the value of maintaining a good alumni relationship. Moving abroad to study at an international university is a daunting step for many students. The purpose of the Alumni visit was twofold. Firstly, they made a guest appearance in a special year 13 life skills lesson in the gym. This lesson was about the challenges of preparing for university life. The alumni were able to provide their own unique perspective and offer insights and advice to our current students about their experiences at university during the Covid Epidemic. 

This was followed by a lively panel discussion in the lecture theatre. The alumni were joined on stage by our deputy director Richard Nunns and Mark Coyle (one of our University Counselling team). The panel answered a wide range of questions from the audience, which consisted of year 13 students and their parents. The event was a great success!
