Excellence in Many Forms: Our Annual Awards Evening

Each year, Dulwich International High School Programme Suzhou holds its Annual Awards Evening, a night to recognise the students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their studies and to the wider life of the school. It is an evening that celebrates not only achievements, but also the curiosity, perseverance, and dedication that make those achievements possible.

Students from Year 10, Year 11, IG1, PAL, and Year 12 walked to the applause of their teachers and classmates. Behind each certificate is a story only the student fully knows: the early mornings, the moments of doubt, the quiet decision to keep going. It is a belief that lies at the heart of a Dulwich education that progress comes in many forms, and that every step forward is worth marking.

Academic Excellence, Recognised

Academic Excellence takes many forms. Some students excel through outstanding results, while others distinguish themselves through determination and consistent effort. At DHSZ, every achievement is recognised and every student’s journey is valued.

During the evening, the Heads of Department presented the Academic Award, the Subject Award and the Head of Department Award to students from Year 10, Year 11, IG1, PAL and Year 12. Each award recognises students' outstanding performance in academics, passion for learning, spirit of inquiry and consistent dedication from different perspectives, acknowledging not only academic results but also perseverance, curiosity, and commitment behind every achievement.

The Heads of Year presented Honour Roll certificates to students who have maintained high academic standards and a genuine commitment to learning throughout the year.

Some of these awards celebrate academic results, others the progress won through steady effort. Together, they reflect Dulwich's value that excellence is not defined by a single measure. Students learn, grow, and succeed in different ways, and every journey deserves recognition.

Support at Every Step

When a teacher smiles, reads out a student's name and places the certificate into their hands, the award becomes a shared celebration of the journey they have taken together, the result of everything shared inside the classroom and outside it.

Throughout the year, teachers have supported their students in lessons and well outside them, answering questions after class, helping with university applications, and standing by them as they grow. Every step forward has taken shape within that steady support.

A confident answer in class, a difficult experiment attempted again, an essay revised late into the evening. These everyday moments gradually build confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for learning. Behind every award are the hours that teachers and students have put in together.

Success, Beyond the Classroom

At Dulwich, we care about results. We care just as much about the kind of person a student becomes along the way. The Boarder of the Year Award went to students who have made boarding life better for everyone around them, through small acts of care, a steady sense of responsibility, and a willingness to lead without being asked. Boarding communities are built by people like these.

A Year 12 student was honoured with the EARCOS Global Citizenship Award. The award goes to a student who demonstrated the qualities of a global citizen: open-minded and empathetic, caring for others, and committed to making the world a better place. They show the responsibility expected of a Dulwich student.

These awards reflect what matters in a Dulwich education: academic strength, and alongside it, the character, responsibility and global outlook that shape who students become.

A Milestone, and a New Beginning

The Awards Evening celebrates a year's worth of achievement while looking ahead to the opportunities still to come.

Academic excellence is never the destination. It is the foundation from which students continue to explore, question, and grow.

Whether in classrooms, the laboratory, on stage, or within the wider school community, we hope every student continue to embrace new challenges, discover new passions, and meets a better version of themselves with each new thing they explore.

Grow in Dulwich, Thrive in Life.
