Co-Curricular Activities Fair Kicks Off
On Wednesday 5th January 2022, we held the Semester 2 CCA Fair in the school dining hall. During the Fair, students and teachers actively demonstrated the features of each Co-Curricular Activity on offer. We go to great efforts to ensure that all students at Dulwich International High School Suzhou have access to an abundant range of opportunities to explore their creativity, satisfy their intellectual curiosity and pursue their interests.
At Dulwich International High School Suzhou, we passionately believe that CCAs are an integral part of our students’ holistic education. Through CCAs, students discover their interests and talents while developing Dulwich values and competencies that will prepare them for a rapidly changing world. CCAs also promote friendships among students and staff members from diverse backgrounds as they learn, play, and grow together. Participation in CCAs fosters social integration and deepens students’ sense of belonging, commitment, and sense of responsibility.
CCAs are broadly spread across the following six categories：
- Academics
- Skills
- Creatives
- Recreational Sports
- Team Sports
- Student-Led CCA's
Why are Co-Curricular Activities So Important?
This is what Mr. Steve Hodgkin, Head of Counselling at Dulwich International High School Suzhou had to say about them:
“Colleges love to see that students are active, contributing members of their communities. Even more importantly, they love to see students who are developing their talents and passions. When a student is actively involved in the community and other activities in high school, there is a good chance that they will be doing something similar in college. Recent feedback and studies completed at many UK universities show a significant increase in the importance of extra-curricular experiences to admissions committees. When candidates have the same grades and similar academic profiles, universities look closely at a student’s extracurricular activities in making their admissions decisions.”
Mr. Tony Winton, our head of CCAs, had the following comments:
''Extremely proud and encouraging to see a great number of new and exciting CCAs coming to Semester 2. In particular, the CCAs that have been organised and created in our 'Student-Led' category. These range from off-site activities such as Ice-Skating and Pool, to classroom-based activities such as Animation, Coding Club, Detective Agency and TRPG. All of which clearly demonstrate growth in many of our student's personal skills, in terms of organisation, collaboration, confidence and leadership.''
CCA’s at Dulwich International High School Suzhou give our students the best possible opportunity to discover their passion. Whether it is a sport, the arts or community service, our students are encouraged to have a wide variety of interests and develop skills that will last a lifetime.
