Code of Conduct

Purpose

The school is a large community, and we urge all its members (students, teachers, and staff alike) to make the most of the opportunities given during our time here. Our code of conduct is designed to promote harmony and efficient functioning of the DHSZ community. 

Policy

Very simply, all members of the DHSZ community are expected to: 

• Be Responsible
• Be Respectful
• Be Safe

This means: 

• be helpful, tolerant and respectful towards everyone in the Dulwich community  
• behave with courtesy and in a manner which reflects well on all of us and on the school 
• avoid behaviour or comments which could lead to any distress, whether in person or online 
• make sure that our appearance does credit to us and the school 
• be punctual 
• respect both the property and environment of the school 
• show consistency and common sense in observing our rules 

Students can exemplify these principles with the following behaviours. This list is not exhaustive:

Be Responsible:

• Look after your belongings and store them appropriately in school. 
• Arrive on time and prepared to every lesson with the right equipment and any necessary work completed. 
• Pay full attention to teachers during lessons. 
• Use devices purposefully for learning as directed by your teachers. 
• Wear the school uniform with pride and take pride in your own appearance. 
• Engage in the activities that teachers give you to promote your learning and that of your peers. 

Be Respectful:

• Talk to people in the same way you expect to be spoken to.
• Refrain from making comments which might be hurtful to any one person or any group of people.
• Apply the same principles of respect both online and face-to-face.
• Take the time to keep areas of the school you use tidy and clean. 
• Be polite and helpful to all members of the DHSZ community and visitors to our site. 
• Not to record, stream or take pictures of any community member without their consent to store, record of share online. 

Be Safe:

• Follow teachers' instructions related to safety very closely.
• Report any accidents or problems to a member of staff. 
• Remember that you should 'speak up, stay safe' and report anything that troubles you.
• Ensure that no prohibited items are brought onto the school site, including in boarding. 
• Comply with traffic rules when travelling to and from school.
