Conscious Friday

Conscious Friday
– a new Global Citizenship initiative

On the 22nd of January, the assembly team launched the Conscious Friday program! The aim of the Conscious Friday program is to spread awareness of the activities of the Global Citizenship Team and raise awareness of environmental issues the world faces.
The 1st event took place before the Global Citizenship Wall area (in the back gate corridor) at lunch time. The Assembly team with the help of Ms. Xu and Ms. Piercy set up blue boards with daily GC team statistics and Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) photos on them. The team were on hand at the beginning of lunch, ready to present to staff and the students.

Several students from different year group gathered with many passionate teachers; the Assembly team introduced the concept of Global Citizenship and showcased facts on the Global Citizenship Wall. They also provided updates and follow-ups about the International day of Education assembly (A series of presentations delivered by the Assembly Team on that week)
There was a lot of positive feedback from teachers and several passionate year 10 recruits joined us, eager to be part of our Global Citizenship team and ready to make a change to the world.
We are looking forward to more students realizing that there are multiple urgent issues around the world. That everyone needs to help if we are going to make our world better. The Global Citizenship team’s goal is to convince everyone in the school to have an international mindset and spread awareness of global issues and problems. With more active change makers, our teaspoons of change will begin to make a significant difference!
