The Dulwich House System

The House System is implemented across all Dulwich schools, with every pupil allocated to one house. This cherished tradition upholds core values including fair competition, teamwork, civic awareness and shared accountability, alongside personal qualities such as self-discipline, initiative, perseverance and adaptability. Parents are also considered members of their child's house.

Individual and team inter-house competitions take place across a wide range of academic, sporting and cultural events, including drama, fine arts, public speaking, basketball and football. Points are awarded to participants and winners for each contest. Scores are tallied over the academic year, and the overall champion house is awarded the House Cup. All four houses also compete annually for the Sports Day Trophy.  

Core Functions of the House System:

• To foster interaction and collaboration amongst pupils; 
• To build friendships and connections beyond the form class; 
• To create regular opportunities for healthy competition; 
• To enable pupils to feel part of a small, inclusive school community spanning all year groups; 
• To cultivate a strong sense of belonging and nurture the Dulwich ethos through membership of both their form class and their house.
