DHSZ Founder's Day 2024

Founder’s Day has always been a cherished occasion for our school community, marking a time to celebrate our shared values, achievements, and the vibrant spirit that defines our journey. This year, we have made some significant changes to make Founder’s Day more memorable.

Unique Theme

With the theme of "Youthful", this year’s Founder’s Day aimed to infuse a camping vibe into the spring atmosphere and created a lively, fun-filled celebration. Picnic mats, comfortable camping chairs and small tents were laid out on the grass, allowing participants to enjoy the food and watch the performances as if they were in nature, relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

Broader Participation

In addition to students, teachers, and staff, this year we welcomed a wide range of participants. For the first time, we invited our parents, as well as the students and teachers from SHSSIP. Their enthusiastic participation enlivened the entire campus and strengthened the connections between the school and families, as well as with other schools, fostering unity, friendship, and collaboration. It allowed more people to immerse themselves in the joyful atmosphere, celebrating our values and achievements together. After the event, parents expressed that they learned a lot from the event and were left with precious memories of the on-campus charity sales and “camping”  with their children.

Diverse Stalls

Inside and around the football field, the campus became a bustling marketplace. Besides students and teachers operating stalls selling official school merchandise and DIY crafts, parents also actively participated, setting up a variety of food stalls offering everything from barbecue to desserts and delicious specialty drinks, attracting passersbys. Additionally, we invited many external specialty food vendors beloved by students to the campus, providing a one-stop destination to satisfy everyone's taste buds.

Spectacular Performances

There were over fourty performances from students, each one more spectacular than the last! Their well-prepared acts included musicals, dances, band performances, solos, rap, and more, showcasing their diverse talents and captivating the audience in a sea of music and dance. One of the highlights was the debut appearance of the Parents' Choir led by our Principal Mr Jon Fei. Their rendition of the bilingual version of "Edelweiss" touched everyone present and elevated the atmosphere, moving every single person in the audience.

It is important for us as a school community to contribute to organisations outside our school that are involved in meaningful work supporting the welfare and wellbeing of others. Therefore, charity has become an important mission of the Founder’s Day event. All excess proceeds from stall sales were donated to suppourt our charities.

We are pleased to announce that,

 the total raised was 18,705RMB!

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the members of the Dulwich family who participated in the Founder’s Day event: students, parents, staff, and other external supporters. It was your help and dedication that allowed us to give back to the community.

We hope that through such activities, we can inspire empathy and a sense of social responsibility in our students and help them appreciate the importance of giving back. By helping others, we can not only improve ourselves, but also cherish the relationships around us and in society. May our acts of kindness bring harmony and a better future to the world!
