Each year, representatives from universities in Hong Kong visit Dulwich  to meet students and our university counsellors and discuss curriculum design, subject development, university culture and graduate outcomes. At the same time, students also secured offers from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Lingnan University, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, demonstrating a broad and diverse range of university pathways. Even as competition for places at Hong Kong universities continues to intensify, students at Dulwich International High School Programme Suzhou have maintained consistently strong outcomes.

Diverse Choices from Business to Traditional Chinese Medicine

The academic choices made by Dulwich students in Hong Kong reveal a striking degree of diversity.

As one of the world's leading financial centres, Hong Kong offers natural advantages in business, economics and industry-linked learning. As a result, business and finance-related subjects, including accounting, marketing and management, remain highly popular, generating 41 offers.

At the same time, students' academic interests continue to expand. Natural and applied sciences, including engineering, accounted for 15 offers. Social sciences, including psychology and educational psychology, received 10 offers. More specialised disciplines such as Law and Traditional Chinese Medicine each generated two offers.

Behind these figures lies an important shift. Students are moving beyond a narrow focus on prestigious universities or traditionally popular subjects. Instead, they are thinking more deliberately about what they want to study, what they hope to create, and the kind of person they aspire to become.

HKU Admission Criteria: Holistic qualities matter more than academics

The University of Hong Kong looks for students who combine strong academic performance with intellectual curiosity, independence, and a clear sense of purpose. For A-Level applicants, competitive grades are important, particularly in subjects connected to the intended major, but HKU also values evidence of wider engagement beyond the classroom.

Summer courses, research programmes, leadership activities, competitions, volunteering, and internships can all strengthen an application because they show initiative and readiness for university-style learning. HKU admissions tutors are often interested in students who can discuss ideas confidently, connect their academic interests to real-world issues, and demonstrate maturity in multicultural and international environments.
