DHSZ Open Day Recap

A Day of Learning, Connection and Growth
Last Saturday, Dulwich International High School Programme Suzhou (DHSZ) welcomed families from Suzhou and surrounding regions to our Open Day.
In a warm and vibrant atmosphere, visitors stepped into our learning community and experienced an immersive journey into the academic ethos, holistic development, and future pathways that define a Dulwich education.

Remarks from our Head: Introducing the Five Pillars of the Dulwich Difference
The day began with a welcome speech from our School's Head, Ms Sarah Tielman, who introduced the five pillars that shape the Dulwich Difference:
- Vibrant Community: A global network that enables meaningful collaboration and intercultural growth.
- Academic Excellence: Over a decade of outstanding university placements supported by rigorous programmes and exceptional teachers.
- Truly International: A faculty composed of outstanding international and local educators who create classrooms aligned with global university demands.
- Holistic Education: Learning that extends far beyond the classroom through CCAs, competitions, trips and creative exploration.
- Strength of Character: A culture that nurtures responsibility, empathy, integrity and resilience at every stage of school life.

Principal’s Address: “Live Worldwise”
In Principal Fei’s keynote that followed, families gained a deeper understanding of how DHSZ prepares students to excel in top universities around the world and demonstrates "Live Worldwise".
Through real stories and clear academic pathways, the session illustrated how Dulwich education shapes not only achievement but also mindset, empowering students with the ability to think critically, communicate confidently and engage with the world.

Taster Classes: A Tailored Learning Journey
While parents attended the keynote, student ambassadors accompanied visiting students to a range of subject taster lessons.
Inside real DHSZ classrooms, students engaged in discussions, experiments and collaborative tasks, guided by subject teachers and supported by student volunteers.
Volunteers shared study techniques, course expectations and their own learning experiences, offering an authentic and relatable glimpse into academic life at DHSZ.

Across campus, families moved freely through various learning spaces, discovering the richness of our educational ecosystem:
- Academic showcases and student work exhibitions
- Interactive conversations with staff about holistic programmes in the cafeteria
- Guided tours of our student boarding house
- Admissions consultations for application timelines and requirements
Every classroom, corridor and display reflected the depth of academic culture at DHSZ, and allowed families to witness how students discover their passions and expand their horizons.

Student Ambassadors:Warmth, Guidance and the Dulwich Spirit
Throughout the day, student ambassadors were present across campus, offering directions, answering questions and sharing campus stories with confidence and genuine care.
Their presence exemplified the core Dulwich values: confidence, responsibility, empathy, and collaboration.

This year, their role expanded further. Amelia W, one of our ambassadors, guided a media team on a live campus tour, introducing learning spaces, art and technology areas, boarding facilities and the vibrant culture of DHSZ from a student perspective.
Through her voice, families beyond the campus were able to experience the authentic spirit of DHSZ.
Our ambassadors were not only guides for the day but also the living expression of the Dulwich Difference.
