At Dulwich International High School Programme Suzhou, students come first. Therefore, safeguarding and child protection are of paramount importance. As a world-class organisation with a strong moral purpose, we make certain that every step is taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of each child in our care.

We believe that students should be respected, and their views should be heard. It is our responsibility to ensure that each child forms stable relationships with adults, built on trust and consistent support for students' individual needs. This approach guides the behaviour of all professionals in our school. Our child-centred approach to safeguarding is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and follows relevant laws and local authority guidance.

EiM has developed an extensive Safeguarding Policy and Training programme, which is regularly reviewed and updated. All new staff members at DHSZ are subject to our safer recruitment procedures, in which all staff involved in recruiting are trained, and on arriving at our school they all take part in safeguarding training, which is periodically refreshed throughout their tenure in our organisation. Our students have age-appropriate lessons in safeguarding and our schools undergo annual safeguarding audits. Safeguarding is also a critical component of our accreditations.

Managing Allegations

If you have a concern about the behaviour of a member of DHSZ staff or a volunteer, report your concern directly to the Head of DHSZ, Sarah Tielman, or Principal Jon Fei.

Safeguarding or Child Protection Concerns

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a student or students at DHSZ, report your concern without delay to the appropriate Child Protection Officer.

Any concerns can also be raised via your Assistant Head of Year. They will immediately inform the Child Protection Officer.

In the event that your child has to raise a concern, they can approach any staff member or, in an emergency, contact any of the given phone numbers on the back of their ID card.
