DHSZ Sports Day 2025-2026
On Tuesday, 14th October, Dulwich International High School Programme Suzhou was filled with energy and excitement as we celebrated our annual Sports Day, a day dedicated to athletic achievement, teamwork, and the Dulwich spirit.
Morning Highlights: Energy Across Two Venues
The morning was split between two bustling locations.
At the Suzhou High School SIP track, students competed in a range of athletic events. From field competitions to the 1500m, 800m, and 400m races, along with qualification heats for the 100m and 200m sprints. Every race was filled with determination and passion as students pushed themselves to new limits.
Meanwhile, back on campus, the Dulwich Gym was filled with laughter and high energy as students participated in a variety of engaging team activities. Dodgeball quickly became a crowd favorite, bringing out both competitive spirit and teamwork.
Afternoon Showdown: The Battle for the Cup
In the afternoon, all students gathered again at the SIP track for the final events and the ultimate contest for the Sports Day Cup.
The atmosphere was electric as the four Houses: Curie, Soong, Mandela, and Turing, battled fiercely for victory. The relay races proved to be a major highlight, with cheers echoing across the stands, while the Tug of War brought dramatic finishes and plenty of fun.
In the student Tug of War final, Mandela House defeated Turing House, and in the staff round, Mandela House Staff took home the win just ahead of Soong House Staff, a double triumph for the House of Mandela!
At the same time, Wingsplan and various student charity groups did an outstanding job running food and game stalls. All proceeds from their efforts will be donated to their chosen charities: a true demonstration of community, compassion, and student leadership in action.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Two school records were shattered this year, a remarkable milestone!
Ives D set a new Boys High Jump record with an impressive leap of 1.72m.
Kelly Q broke the Girls Javelin record with an outstanding throw of 18.30m.
Congratulations to both athletes on their exceptional performances!
Honoring Individual Excellence
The coveted Victor Ludorum (for boys) and Victrix Ludorum (for girls) awards were presented to students who achieved the highest combined points across five events, a true testament to consistent excellence and versatility.
Junior Girls: Roxie X (Curie House)
Junior Boys: Ryan Y (Soong House)
Senior Girls: Nicole C (Curie House)
Senior Boys: Thomas T (Soong House)
And the Cup Goes To...
After a thrilling day of competition and camaraderie, Soong House emerged as the overall champion of the 2025–2026 Sports Day Cup, followed by:
Curie House – 2nd place
Mandela House – 3rd place
Turing House – 4th place
A huge congratulations to Soong House for lifting the Cup!
Leadership, Teamwork and Growth
This year, we are especially proud of our newly appointed Heads of House, Deputy Heads of House, and House Captains, who showed exceptional organisation and leadership throughout the day.
With the introduction of a refreshed House Leadership System, students were given greater autonomy and responsibility, supported by our Staff House Mentors. Their professionalism, enthusiasm, and teamwork truly embodied our Dulwich values.
We are thrilled to see such inspiring young leaders emerging within our school community.
Grow in Dulwich, Thrive in Life
From the first starting whistle to the final cheer, every moment on the field reflected the spirit of collaboration and confidence that defines our Dulwich community.
Through teamwork, encouragement, and perseverance, our students learned that success is not achieved alone but built together—step by step, side by side.
May we continue to move forward with confidence, unity, joy, and meet again on next year's field, ready to shine even brighter.
Go Dragons!
