Highlights from the UKMT Senior Challenge

UKMT Results Are In!

our students have been awarded

17 gold, 11 silver, and 2 bronze in total.

The UKMT is one of many different mathematics competitions available to our students. It provides an excellent opportunity for them to demonstrate a broad and deep mathematical understanding beyond typical class questions. 

The competition is very well established with over 700,000 participants around the world and as a result it is highly valued by universities demonstrating a combination of both mathematical knowledge together with problem solving skills.

Unfortunately, the competition dates this year fell during our Golden week holiday so we could not run the event at school however this did not deter our excellent students. We had a significant number sign up and many achieved a number of awards.

Certificates are awarded at three levels bronze, silver and gold. Gold are awarded to the top 7% of competitors making it a significant achievement. Silver is awarded for the next 13% and bronze 20%.

88% of all our students achieved a certificate of which 56% achieved a gold certificate. This really is a fantastic achievement.

Aspecial mention for the following students: 

As a school we will continue our competition program with the AMC competition coming up at the beginning of November and the Euclid competition later in the year. I would also like to encourage our students to come to the maths CCA’s where they can explore complex problems and further develop their passion for maths.
