Parent Academy Online

COVID-19 pandemic safety measures have required a great many changes to school operations this year, and our Parent Academy programme has been no different! Normally held in person on Friday afternoons, this series of presentations to parents has been extremely popular since it was launched five years ago, particularly with families who are new to the school. This year, however, we are not permitted to hold such large events on campus, for quite understandable social distancing reasons. In response, rather than cancelling the Parent Academy, we have moved it online! We have kept the presentations in their planned Friday slots, but we are now free to hold them at alternative times that allow us to reach an even wider group of parents. In addition, because the meetings are online we are able to easily record and share the sessions with parents who are unable to join live – one ‘silver lining’ during a challenging time.

We are very glad to have welcomed so many parents to the sessions already delivered this year, which have included:

  • Settling In and Transitioning to a New School
  • Developing in Boarding to Thrive in University
  • Better Communication with your Teenage Child
  • Assessment and Feedback at Dulwich International High School Suzhou
  • Supporting Your Child in Improving their English

In response to parent feedback, presentation topics have been selected to cover a wide range of concepts, from academic progress and systems to social-emotional issues and relationships between parents and children. We are looking forward to running further engaging sessions during the rest of the year, including:

  • Safeguarding and Child Protection at Dulwich International High School Suzhou
  • CCAs and CV Building
  • English Proficiency Test Preparation Guidance
  • Helping to Raise an Adult – Letting Go
