Week without Walls and COVID-19

At Dulwich International High School Suzhou, we appreciate the value of learning beyond the classroom. Normally, at this time of year, our ‘week without walls’ helps students to develop communication, collaboration, problem-solving and many other essential skills through engaging in enjoyable outdoor activities in Zhejiang province.  Due to the special situation this year, it is with regret that we are unable to leave the school campus.  Therefore, our teachers have carefully prepared a wide range of projects and activities that develop these skills and more besides.  We trust that these activities, which will take place on the 19th and 20th of November, will be both valuable learning experiences and highly enjoyable! In addition to the projects listed below, there will also be tutor group activities, a BBQ, and the famous Dulwich International High School Suzhou treasure hunt.  Such events help to foster our school values of collaboration, creativity, confidence, responsibility and empathy.  As students develop these attributes, they continue to strengthen themselves and the school community by equipping themselves to ‘Live Worldwise’ with skills that will help them thrive at university and in life.

The following activities are on offer, and students have been given details on how to sign up.  As these are regular school days, we expect that all students will carefully choose one project to partake in, that matches their interests.  For Senior students, we appreciate that this year has brought special challenges and so options include opportunities for dedicated time to work on Extended projects, Music and Art portfolios, along with time for College application and essay work.

Each student should sign up before the end of the day on the  9th  of November.  Students have been informed of the lead teacher for each project in case of questions, along with any special requirements for the projects.

We are very grateful to teachers for organising such an impressive range of activities and look forward to seeing students challenge themselves to learn deeply, develop valuable skills, and come up with some amazing outcomes over these two days.  We will certainly have plenty of photos and stories to share!
