So, what were Jessie and Renee’s strategies for success in Mathematics and Co-Ordinated Sciences?
Jessie R:"For me, Mathematics is a subject where building a solid foundation is crucial. I always follow the methods taught by my teachers and make sure to approach each step carefully. This helps me understand each concept thoroughly and ensures I pick up as many marks as possible. I’ve also found that doing regular practice and keeping an error log is really beneficial – it helps me pinpoint where I’m prone to make mistakes so I can avoid them in future. Competing in Maths competitions has also been valuable, as it’s helped me develop my problem-solving skills and broaden my thinking, allowing me to tackle different kinds of problems with more confidence. Ultimately, I think a steady approach, reflecting on my mistakes, and challenging myself are key elements in my Maths journey."
Renee L:"In my experience, preparation is key, especially in subjects like Biology and Chemistry where there’s a lot of new terminology. Familiarising myself with the vocabulary before class helps me make the most of lessons and avoid wasting time trying to catch up. When revising for exams, I like to connect short-answer questions with key points from the syllabus and summarise the common question types. Getting to know the mark scheme inside out has also been a huge help in structuring my answers properly and making sure I don’t miss out on marks."
The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony will be held in Shanghai on 23rd November, where students from across the country will come together to celebrate their achievements and express their gratitude to their teachers and families. We’re incredibly proud of Jessie and Renee and look forward to seeing them represent our school at the event. We’re confident they’ll continue to excel in their future studies and beyond.
