Study in Canada Lecture
We were honoured to host a Parent Academy titled “Study in Canada,” inviting representatives from four renowned Canadian universities: the University of Toronto, Queen's University, McMaster University, and Western University.

We welcomed our community to join this session, including parents and students from Dulwich International High School Programme Suzhou (DHSZ), students from Suzhou High School, and friends from other local schools.

At the beginning of the session, Ms Wang from McMaster University introduced the Canadian higher education system, the study environment, and the support available for international students. She highlighted that Canada is not only renowned for its high-quality education system but also provides a favourable environment for international students, thanks to its multiculturalism and stunning natural surroundings.

Next, each university presented the strengths of their institution and the application requirements. For example, Queen's University showcased its five-year dual degree programme in education, while Western University emphasised its case-based teaching method in undergraduate education. The University of Toronto outlined the differences between its three campuses and provided guidance to students on how to choose the most suitable campus and programme.
Each university offered an in-depth explanation of programme choices and the multi-layered Co-op options, which allow students to gain valuable work experience in their field of study. This information was invaluable for those students currently considering their university programmes or majors. With these options in mind, students were eager to follow up on the detailed presentations and were able to take brochures and pamphlets to share with their families later.

The event aimed to provide a platform for Dulwich families to communicate directly with universities, offering students and parents a deeper understanding of various aspects of studying abroad in Canada. Following the event, some students have already decided to consider Canada as one of their potential destinations. Others noted that the universities provided valuable guidance on selecting their A-level subjects. The university admissions officers also remarked that our students' questions were both specific and insightful, indicating that Dulwich students must have conducted excellent research on universities.
The Dulwich counselling department will regularly invite prestigious overseas universities to conduct Parent Academies for our families. This initiative allows parents and students to gain a multi-dimensional understanding of the education systems in different countries and helps students identify the "best-fit university" for their future studies.
