In the middle of September, several of our DHSZ Liberal Arts and Geography students were fortunate to listen to a talk from Dr Oliver Belcher, who is associate professor at the University of Durham, on the theme of opportunities in the study of Geography and the Liberal Arts.
Several of these students were already fortunate enough to visit the Durham campus this summer, during our UK college tour. Dr Belcher answered questions from our students on the study of topics as diverse as Geography, PPE and International Relations.
This type of interaction is the type of preparation that high-achieving DHSZ students will need to develop the confidence and self-assurance needed to excel at university interviews. In the Dulwich Scholars Programme, we aim to expose our students to such opportunities to polish their debating, questioning and critical thinking skills and I am anticipating more chances to meet with DHSZ alumni students at some of the world’s highest regarded universities in the near future.
