First US University Transcripts for DHSZ Students

Acknowledgment:Steve Hodgkin

We are pleased to announce that our we have our first group of students (Carl X,Carrie H,Cathy W,Frank L,Joy L,Molly H ) who have been awarded Marquette University transcripts for their studies in the DHSZ Liberal Arts programme. This is an amazing achievement, as these students have been working at US college undergraduate level while they were in Year 11. They have earned these college credits through hard work – writing 10 essays, as well as turning in both a Mid-Term and Final Term assessment paper, and all to in the runup to their IGCSE exams.

These students were awarded 3 transferrable US college credits for the ANTH2203 Human Geography course, which they can use in addition to their IGCSE and AS/A Level exams in order to add value to their university applications.

The number of pathway plans for adding Marquette University college credits to AS/A Level studies are continuing to grow and develop.

Previously we interviewed Carrie H about what she learned and gained from taking this class (click here to read Carrie’s story). Today, we are happy to hear more students share their experience that how they took on the challenge of balancing their studies and how rewarding it was.

Joy L told us that, “completing more than 10 papers during the preparation for the IGCSE exams does really have some challenges. However, our teacher will leave some time for us to complete the thesis during class, and I will also check some materials related to the thesis during the break time and CCA time, so as to make reasonable use of the time. My teacher will provide us with some relevant knowledge points in class and provide us with ideas and methods for writing articles. Sometimes he will give some feedback to our submitted papers so that we can improve the quality of our papers and the skills of writing.”

Molly H shared with us that one of those essays impressed her, “there is one essay which explores the influences and impacts of general migratory trends worldwide, with a specific focus on the case study of how the export of primary products has transformed the economies of Latin America. Given that this is the mid-term assessment, most of my classmates find it as both intellectually demanding and interesting to study. To facilitate our learning, our teacher provide online documentary, organised interactive group exercises, and offered various viewpoints on the demographic, cultural, economic, and political aspects of this topic matter, thus widening our knowledge and perspectives.”

For her, the course did not just gain her the credits, but also shaped her perception of her abilities and potential for future academic and professional success, “under the guidance of our teacher, we strengthen our problem-solving abilities by breaking down complex questions into more manageable components, examining various viewpoints regarding the issue, and integrating relevant information in order to formulate potential resolutions. Consequently, by engaging in consistent essay writing, I refined my ability for critical thinking and gradually developed the skill to approach intricate subjects with an analytical perspective, thereby establishing myself with valuable tools for my forthcoming academic studies."
