Planet Hack 2023, a remarkable STEAM hackathon, was a collaborative effort co-hosted by Australian National University (ANU), Education in Motion, and Dulwich High School Suzhou. This exhilarating event unfolded over two intense days, from the 27th to the 28th of October. Representing our school, DHSZ, were a talented group of students who enthusiastically embraced the challenge.

Year 10:Lucas S, Jerry W;Year11:Smith Z, Year 12:Andy X, Alex Z, Raykio Y, Emma L, Karl Z, Alan Y, Tina Y;Year 13:Alex L.

The theme of this year's hackathon, "Food Security," was unveiled by distinguished professor from ANU. It provided a thought-provoking backdrop to the event, linking it to the broader concept of Global Citizenship. Students were tasked with developing innovative solutions to address the critical issue of food security and prepare for an uncertain future.

With the unwavering support of our dedicated teachers, Mr Amin Teymorian, Ms Kimberley Murray, and Mr Don Socorro, our talented representatives developed the ingenious solution "Wave 2 Wok." This multifaceted solution addressed key aspects of food security. The team harnessed blockchain technology to meticulously track and record the history of fish, providing transparency and traceability. They also looked into quality control and nutrient classification, distinguishing between farmed and wild-caught fish. To further bolster their solution, they designed and constructed a cutting-edge machine capable of identifying fish temperature and color using a combination of robotic kits and Arduino. Finally, they utilized their programming skills to generate informative data visualizations that conveyed essential information to end-users.
