Social Emotional Counselling

The Social and Emotional counsellors serve as the first line of defence in identifying and addressing student social/emotional needs within the school setting. School counsellors use appropriate methods to help students with positive mindsets and behaviour/learning support.

Individual counselling and small group counselling are offered to help students resolve personal or interpersonal problems. By promoting a positive environment, we enhance students' ability to manage their lives' social/emotional demands.

Transition

Students may feel overwhelmed when they step into a new school. Here is some advice to help with a smooth transition:

  • There are many differences compared with your child's previous school, so it is important to learn about these differences. You can learn about these from our website, newsletters, parent academies, and parent meetings.
  • Communicate with your child more at the beginning of the school year. Teenagers may feel ashamed to talk about some of the issues they may face. It is important to check if they have friends in school, if they can understand instructions in class and whether they feel comfortable in school.
  • Encourage your teenager to communicate with peers, their seniors, and teachers. Encourage them to develop the ability to solve problems independently.
  • Help your teenager with their time management skills.
  • Encourage Involvement in Extracurricular Activities.
