Dulwich Suzhou International Universities Fair 2024
In the afternoon of 17th October, we successfully hosted our annual international university fair in partnership with Dulwich College Suzhou, offering students and parents valuable opportunities to explore the admission requirements and application processes of leading universities worldwide. Over 130 universities the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and HK SAR were present, helping students broaden their horizons and providing crucial guidance for their future academic plans.
The university fair is not just an essential bridge between our school and universities; it also serves as a key platform for parents and students to access first-hand information. We've found that students who apply earlier in the admissions cycle have a 10-20% higher chance of receiving offers. Through face-to-face interactions at the event, families gain a clearer and more intuitive understanding of the university application process.
#From Students
This university fair introduced me to many schools I hadn't known before, especially some popular universities in Hong Kong. I asked about grade requirements and explored new courses, such as data science and statistics, which I found very interesting. I look forward to learning about even more universities in the future.
Previously, I focused mainly on universities in the UK, but this fair gave me insight into institutions in Hong Kong, Canada, and Australia. I visited the booth of City University of Hong Kong, as well as other universities from Canada and Australia. I also discovered exciting new majors, like computer science and the arts, which really fascinated me. I hope the fair in the future will feature even more universities!
I spoke with admissions officers from Rutgers University and Amherst College about how A Level results could be converted into university credits, as well as the requirements for scholarships. I also sought detailed information from Hong Kong universities about personal statements and scholarship opportunities. These insights have been incredibly helpful for my application planning.
#From Parents
The event was also warmly received by parents.
The biggest challenge in applying to international universities is the information gap. We often feel lost when choosing countries, majors, or universities. This event not only introduced different countries' admissions systems but also gave us the opportunity to meet admissions officers face-to-face and obtain the latest information. For Year 10 students, this was an eye-opening experience.
The school has provided us with comprehensive guidance through Parent Academy events, where we learn about admissions requirements across various countries. These activities allow us to access vital information without relying on external resources. I was truly impressed by the fair’s scale, where we had the chance to speak directly with admissions officers from different countries and regions. This has greatly enhanced our understanding, for which I am very grateful.
Connecting Communities Across Borders
Beyond students and parents, the university fair also welcomed families and students from other schools in the Suzhou community. As Mr Coyle highlighted, “We place great importance on fostering collaboration and sharing knowledge with the wider community. Through events like this, we hope to support families across Suzhou who are interested in international education."
This vibrant and diverse university fair not only broadened the international perspectives of students and parents but also laid a solid foundation for their future academic journeys. In the coming academic year, we look forward to welcoming more universities and families to join our educational activities and witness the continued growth and success of our students.
