Week Without Walls

Each year in Term 1, pupils from Year 10 to 12 attend our Week Without Walls program based in Qian Dao Hu, Lin'an and Moganshan. Students are presented with a unique opportunity to develop new skills and a sense of agency. Team-building, leadership, organisation, resilience and consideration for others are actively encouraged and developed in a safe and challenging environment.

Furthermore, we hold a strong belief in the importance of our students' building relationships with their peers and teachers, leading to a sense of belonging within the Dulwich family. The skills and relationships acquired over this period cannot be underestimated as this experience sets a positive foundation for our students to excel in their personal and academic life.

All of which reinforces several key Dulwich values: collaboration, empathy, confidence and excellence.Research conducted in several countries has shown that adventure learning shows positive benefits on academic learning and self-confidence. We aim to offer students a holistic educational experience, which is a key component of the DHSZ curriculum. This also helps students develop their outdoor and experiential learning skills that will help support their further university applications. As such, all students must attend as these are considered normal school days.

There are separate trips for Year 10, Year 11/IG1 and Year 12 students. There is an additional payment due for Week Without Walls. Further information will be provided in August. DHSZ runs one of the largest outdoor education programmes for any international school in China. Much time and effort has gone into arranging Week Without Walls. Support from our parent community is very much appreciated.
