【COVID-19 Prevention 1】: How to Protect Yourself and Others

According to a press release from the Jiangsu Commission of Health on March 4th, by 0-24:00 3rd March, there were no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jiangsu province. Jiangsu Province has reported no new confirmed cases for 14 consecutive days. The good news is reassuring, but we should not relax our vigilance now. The situation is still of epidemic proportions. The Suzhou City Center for Disease Control issued a "Proposal Letter to Suzhou citizens" containing the following initiatives:

1  Be alert and do not relax when it comes to COVID-19. The current epidemic situation is still grim and complex, and we must remain highly vigilant.

2  Do not conceal any information when reporting. Consciously apply for "Suzhou Health Code", truthfully declare personal information, and actively cooperate with epidemic prevention personnel to verify your identity if requested, measure body temperature, and checking your "Suzhou Health Code".

3  Don’t rush to return to work. Proactively report return information, actively cooperate with health management services, effectively take preventive and control measures, and resume work in an orderly and safe manner.

4  Don't panic, take scientific precautions. Pay close attention to the official epidemic situation, understand and apply prevention and control methods. Try and establish a healthy mindset and don’t panic.

5  Do not gather in public places. Do not go out unless necessary. Consciously reduce the flow of people, stop participating in public collective activities, and avoid going to crowded places and confined spaces.

6  Pay attention to hygiene. You cannot be too careful. Wash your hands frequently, wear a mask, keep your environment well ventilated. Encourage reasonable meal sharing, promote the use of serving chopsticks and spoons, have meals in a clean and hygienic manner.

7  Avoid contact with wild animals. Resolutely prohibit contact, trading, and hunting wild animals, effectively reducing the risk of infection.

For most of us, self-protection is still important and good hygiene habits must be maintained. In view of this, Dulwich International High School Suzhou will launch a "COVID-19 Prevention" series, which will include basic knowledge of disease prevention and control, COVID-19 prevention tips for students at home, as well as back to school and workplace guidelines for epidemic prevention, and a guide to good epidemic prevention and control for school, etc. Students and parents and staff of the Dulwich Community are invited to learn together and protect themselves and their families. Let us first review the basic knowledge of disease prevention and control released by the World Health Organization:
