The theme of this year’s conference was reducing inequality. Topics of discussion included job creation through encouragement of the private sector, addressing rehabilitation of slum ssettlements to accommodate rising population worldwide, advocating gender equality in multinational companies, promoting sustainable consumption through minimalization of global food waste, encouraging sustainable development to combat overcrowding in urban areas, amongst others. Our delegates spent many weeks researching their topics for their committees while learning to  appreciate the perspective of the nations they were representing. We hope that by putting themselves in someone else’s seat, our students will learn to empathize with the perspectives of others.

Our delegates interacted with students from different countries and we were very pleased to see that several Y10 and IG1 students joined our delegation and thus demonstrated their commitment to improving their communication and research skills. They were supported by Y11 and Y12 students, led ably by our Kevin L. and Apple S., who are members of the MUN leadership.

The MUN society is now preparing for the CISSMUN conference in January 2020 which includes nearly 1000 delegates from around the world. We will be looking for opportunities for students who have not been able to attend a conference to do so in the second semester.
