National University of Singapore High School Visit

In the past few days, we were very pleased to welcome a group of 100 Singaporean High School students to DHSZ. They collaborated with our year 12 students in small groups, working on: ‘Science in action’, challenging team maths activities, and an in-depth Economics case study on Tesla. The DHSZ students and Singaporean students not only engaged in the academic activities but also enjoyed finding out about each other’s backgrounds over lunch.

Professor Tan, who leads the NUS Research Institute here in Suzhou commented: “our teachers and students have benefited a lot from such a rare opportunity to meet and work together with their counterparts in China – though it may seem like a short time together, their interaction should be very memorable to them all!” Mr Stephen Cobb, who coordinated the activities added, “what excited me most was the interaction between our students and the visitors. They progressed from first meeting to high levels of collaboration within minutes.” As English was the common language, it is a testament to our students that such high level communication was possible.
