The Computer Science department organised an ‘Hour of Code’ event initiated by ‘Computer Science Education Week’ and code.org to introduce students to one hour of computer science concepts and programming. It was a student led event and theme of the session was ‘anybody can code’.
In one session, students presented many computer principles applied in real world applications in the form of puzzles, quizzes, human piano, magic tricks etc. and encouraged the audience to broaden their participation in the field of computer science.
In another session, students and teachers participated in an hour of code self-guided activities and demystified coding.
This has led to many students deciding to go beyond an ‘hour of code’ and understand that computer science and coding is fun and creative.
