The Extended Project

The Extended Project (EP) is a rigorous and academically intensive course which stretches students beyond the normal school curriculum. It is a stimulating challenge and provides students with a wide range of core attributes which are vital for them in the future, especially at university level. The EP is an independent research-based project which is very much self-driven with some guiding input from assigned EP Supervisors. Students taking the EP develop their skillset in preparation for studies at top Western universities and colleges by conducting their own research, applying critical thinking skills, and by learning about referencing citations, and academic writing.

The EP is viewed as being equivalent to half an Advanced Level (A2) or the same as an AS-Level by universities. This provides students with a greater competitive edge when making their university applications. It also serves a specific purpose in strengthening the students' CV/resume as it shows perseverance, intrinsic motivation, good academic skills and a desire to learn beyond the curriculum.

So far, we have had a significant number of AS students sign up for the EP, but we are always looking for more. The EP takes place during CCA time on Wednesdays and is now jointly led and run by Mr Clancy and Mr Muralee. The EP continues to be a popular choice; A2 students who have completed it always provide positive feedback. Looking forward, it will be exciting to see how the current AS-Level students develop over the next year as they begin to work on their Extended Projects!
